Today quick turnaround social content has become an essential part of any marketing strategy. With audience appetite for authentic and immediate content always increasing, there is heightened demand for this rapid delivery style of content creation.
Back in 2023 we covered the work of the Jamaican Tourist Board at the phenomenal World Travel Market in London's Excel Centre. Our brief is to showcase the scope of work the team get up to across the multi-day event and at the end of each evening have a polished and premium highlights edit ready to post on social media. As we returned for 2024 we were determined to refine our approach and improve our offering from last year.
Arriving on a brisk November morning our first stop upon arrival is to head straight to the media centre and set up an edit station. We divide and conquer, with one of the team stationed at the media centre all day, the other out following the team around the event.
WIth a handful of estalbishing shots of the venue exterior and interior captured, work on the edit begins. Our deliverables are only short 30 and 45 second edits at the end of each day, so it's a careful balance of shooting enough high quality content, while not overshooting and delaying the edit delivery as the editor has too much footage to sort through.
Taking on a similar approach to our documentary work, we keep for an eye for those key moments of reaction and interaction and look to showcase the most exciting moments of the day. There are also key personnel and events we need to capture so the day runs on a very tight schedule to ensure that these are all ticked off our list.
We carefully choose our intervals to return to the media centre to handover the footage. We don't want to miss any of the action but it's important to keep the edit progressing, so that we can leave time at the end of the day to incorporate any client feedback and meet our edit posting deadline of 6pm.
Today, often this kind of quick turnaround content is filmed on iPhones and delivered in an auto-generated montage edit on Instagram Reels. This does provide that immediacy and immerses the audience in the event, giving them a glimpse of what it felt like to be there. However we look to take this a step further, crafting and composing great looking shots using our range of Sony Zeiss Prime lenses and filming in UHD resolution on our Sony A7Siii's to ensure our content has a far more premium look and feel and stands out from your normal social content when scrolling through the feed.
It's a really exciting style of content creation and one we can see becoming increasingly popular in the future. Thank you again to all the team involved for a great few days at the London Excel!
